• Author Chat with Julie Lavender on Her Book, Strength for All Seasons

Life has more than the four seasons we use to mark the passage of time. As the mom of a young toddler, I feel as though I have already experienced so many new seasons: from fresh baby snuggles to actually playing outside with my boy and watching the wonder on his face as he discovers new experiences. All those milestones–from sitting to crawling to babbling to walking to attempting to talk–are just the tip of the iceberg of the seasons motherhood presents. As I’m learning, each one brings its joys and its challenges. My friend and gifted author Julie Lavender wrote a book to encourage women in all seasons of…

  • Theme for 2023: Be Faithful

I have been trying to type this post for almost two weeks now, but being a new mama often means choosing between getting sleep and working on a writing project. Nine times out of ten, sleep wins out. Whoever instructed a new mother to sleep when the baby sleeps wasn’t wrong. Even when I choose writing after our little boy’s bedtime, my plans don’t always work. Our sweet son struggles with “false starts” where he wakes about an hour into his night’s sleep. But as with anything in life, we get to choose how we respond. That’s the lesson my character Kaley learns in Take My Hand. As a trauma therapist working on her master’s thesis, she has all the head knowledge she needs to counsel others about their problems. But when it comes to…

  • Peace Pirates: Review & Giveaway!

You might be surprised to see this book on my blog. I’m kind of surprised myself. After all, this is not a mom blog. (Hello, I’m not a mom yet!) However, this blog is all about thinking truthfully and living daringly in everyday life, and when I reviewed the book concept for Peace Pirates, I realized it fit our theme here perfectly. Ashley Willis’ premise with this book is to fight the “pirates,” or anything that steals the peace from motherhood, by using biblical truth. It’s such a simple concept but so powerful, because every day, all of us (mothers or not) face choices, confront thought patterns, and deal with…
