A Father’s Day Gift and Giveaway

What are you getting the dad(s) in your life this Father’s Day? As we know, every dad is different. Some crave their favorite dinner (or dessert), while others would most enjoy a weekend getaway or a surprise gift from their Amazon wish list.

However we choose to express our love and appreciation this Father’s Day, we will probably accompany our expressions with the words, “I love you, Dad.”

Those words sum up the title and heart of Blythe Daniel’s latest book, which she co-authored with her son William and her mom Helen McIntosh. Today, I’m excited to share this book with you and give away one copy. Keep reading to learn how to enter.

Book Review: I Love You, Dad

This gift book is all about the details. The first pages include fill-in-the-blanks for gifting information, as well as space to write your own personalized note to Dad.

Each chapter begins with a devotional thought written by either Blythe, Daniel, or Helen, followed by a few Dad jokes, and finally a “Dear Dad” thank-you that integrates a biblical principle.

One that resonated with me was Daniel’s chapter called “Riding the Compassion Wave” where he shares about riding the waves with his dad at the beach. He then ties that idea back to the balance between giving compassion and advice that Dads do and the difference it makes in the lives of their children. Daniel writes, “I think God gives dads the ability to give instructions, but also the skills to show compassion rather than just telling their children what to do.” Both are so necessary!

This book will put a smile on our dads’ faces as they recognize the vital way they shape and influence their families and even challenge them with a biblical perspective on ways they can continue to strengthen their relationships.

I lost my wonderful Dad to a drunk driver in 1982. I still miss him every day. This looks like a great way to honor the dads in our lives.

Sometimes the contributions that Dads make are overlooked and they rarely garner as much attention as Moms do – so nice to have them get the recognition they deserve and be lifted up and celebrated. Just in time for Father’s Day gift-giving, too!
